You know that old story-
Girl grows up in Ridgecrest.
Girl can’t wait to get out of Ridgecrest.
Girl moves back to Ridgecrest with a whole new appreciation for the desert, the town and life in a small town.
Yes that’s me. Growing up the one thing I could not wait to do was get out of town. It took me several years to do it, but I finally did. I have lived in and loved in a couple of big cities- Long Beach and San Francisco. A very different life, not a bad life, but a different life. My last ‘gig’ was in San Francisco. I was there for 5 years and loved it mostly... But as I look back over the last couple of years, I realize that every chance I got to get out of the city I took it. I wanted to get back to nature I guess. Events led me back home, here to the stark and dramatic beauty of the desert. Here to family and friends and connections so deep that they could not be broken even over 20 years of time.
So now that I am here, what next? Well as much as Ridgecrest has not changed it has also changed a great deal. Lot’s of new faces, new places and new opportunities. Over the last several years I have been building my art and design career. Watercolors, photography, graphic and web design have been my trade. Painting and photographing California and helping small businesses market themselves. So now Passions at Play Art & Design has moved to Ridgecrest. I look forward to working and being part of the artistic community as well as the business community. Life is good in this place called Ridgecrest and I am excited about the possibilities!
I guess Dorothy was right- there is no place like home!
